This sadly happened to one of our trees last night on Allison Road around 5pm. A neighbour witnessed a van reversing to park when it hit the tree. As you can imagine, on our street WhatsApp group neighbours were really upset to lose such a lovely tree - one neighbour commenting that "only the other day I saw three long tailed tits in that tree, which was a real day brightener" - the last picture is the council taking the tree away :( we had had wishful thoughts of saving and replanting the tree but i think there was probably too much damage and only thing was to dispose.

Such a shame. Someone will have ringbell/camera footage of the driver and their number plate.
Unfortunately not :(
I think it was a Rowan Tree (aka mountain ash)
"Long known as the "Witch Tree," it has been planted near front doors and gateways to ward off negative energy, witchcraft, and evil spirits." -- obviously didn't work this time.
Hopefully it haunts that van driver!
Let's hope so. These destructive people should be banned from driving. They drive here and smash our neighbourhood to pieces.
Such a shame. I sponsored a tree outside my house and the same thing happened to it. It was replanted but then it was driven into again.
A second tree died. I think that was also driven into multiple times.
Then, with no tree there, someone drove into and took out our front fence.
Lord help us! What are we supposed to do? Maybe plant new trees and put WW2 type tank traps around them? Some people driving have no regard for life, let alone for the beauties of the living world.
