10 years too late - but it’s a start. I live a stone’s throw from 3 of them, and they’re a huge blight on the neighbourhood. Enfield and Haringey Council are too incompetent or scared to take action, so it’s great that the police have finally decided to take an interest. Amazingly, one of these venues was shut after a murder a few years ago, but reopened with a new name with the apparent blessing of Enfield Council.
Let’s hope that this action is the first of many.

Would help if you explained what made a café "dodgy" and which establishments you deem deserving of the moniker.
Thanks in advance
Unnecessary. Everyone except those who wilfully feign ignorance knows.
The linked newspaper report says "illegal gambling". Is that dodgy enough for you, BadaBing?
I am going to claim ignorance. The article talks about gambling in venues. Not how many, not which and not even the offences under which people were arrested. No note on whether the arrested were owners/staff or the patrons. Typical lazy journalism, which lends itself to the readers forming their own opinions without evidence of anything.
There are many cafes (and other businesses) on Green Lanes into which I would not go, but that's personal preference and doesn't automatically make them dodgy. They just don't align to my liking.
At the corner of my street there is one such cafe which regularly causes complaints from neighbours, on account of patrons displaying anti-social behaviour (urinating in people's front gardens, potential dealing of drugs, that I am aware of). Other cafes appear regularly on the LCSP minutes, on account of breaches to planning permission (opening hours, misuse of rear gardens, noise,...).
By any account, you could call "dodgy" a venue that opens 4 or 5 shops on account of calling them slightly different things, while likely consolidating or hiding the kitchen behind one to maximise table space on the other.
Also a final note, Green Lanes is over 6 miles long, most of it in Haringey. The words "swarming" and "crackdown" probably require more precision.
