Beautfiul vintage sewing machine and wooden case.  1930s I think.  35 pounds.  Can deliver locally in Downhills Park area.

Hi

it is beautiful- does it work still?

thanks

Joy

Hi Joy, I tried to test it over the weekend, but unfortunately I don't know enough about this type of machine to operate it properly, so I can't confirm whether it's working. I wouldn't want to mislead you.

Hi

my mother had one and I do know how to use it, but if it doesn't work then I shall have to let this one go. thank you for your reply. best wishes

Would love this. Have sent you connection request.

Hi Clare, lovely. I should just say that I tried to test it over the weekend, but I don't really know how to operate this type of machine, so I can't confirm whether it's in working order. I've used it as an ornament. It's a beautiful old machine though. If you're still interested knowing that, I'd be very happy for you to have it. I can deliver locally as mentioned.

This is a transverse shuttle machine. Possibly a lot earlier than you suggest. I will repost this on the VSS forum for more info. The name on the arm is not very readable. Richard

Thanks Richard, that's really helpful. I wasn't certain of the date, so I appreciate the correction — and thank you for reposting it.

Hi Kumari. I posted your machine on the VSS site and they directed me too sewmuse  for info. If you go to the site you will get some info on the machine.  You can end up going down a rabbit hole when researching old Vintage sewing machines.  A couple of years ago I had no interest in them until I saved 13 of a scrap heap just for something to do in restoring them. I now have 30. The beauty of machines like your one is they were built to last.  My oldest one is a chainstitch. 1868. If you still have it I would hang onto it and learn to use it.   Richard.

Thanks Richard, that's really interesting and very kind of you to look into it. I've actually got someone interested in taking the machine, so hopefully it will be going to someone who'll appreciate it and may know more about how to use it than I do! Thanks again for your help.
