IN recent days, a fold-out leaflet has appeared in at least some residents’ mail boxes around Finsbury park.
It has the coy title, Local Community Information.
At a glance, the red livery suggested a Royal Mail publication. Most of the copy on the A3 fold-out is in small, if not tiny print (pdf attached). On the front at the foot, little symbols are reproduced.
They are the logos of the private company "Festival Republic" and it's controller company "Live Nation" who own 50.1% of the FR stock. The local, Limited concern is a holding company which in turn owns other holding companies.
Local Live Nation is in turn, owned by sprawling NYSE-listed holding corporation. Two months ago, a New York jury found Live Nation Entertainment Inc. guilty of operating a monopoly.
45,000 capacity
Their leaflet announces three major events in Finsbury Park: on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July (‘Capacity 45,000’ for each). Ending, at 22:30 hrs except for Sunday, which ends at 21:30.
Private hotline
The sub-text, is that residents should expect noise and disruption. Some affected may be inclined to complain.
The privately-held company provides a phone number (their "hotline", 020 8080 1459) and their email address: FinsburyPark.residents@festivalrepublic.com
Full respect
What is almost amusing, is that the council-cosy, colossal corporation and NY-convicted monopolist, feels the need to state that it has respect for your democratic right to contact your ‘local’ council. Presumably, this includes residents in the worst-affected Hackney Borough, plus Islington and of course, Haringey Council, the Hiring Landlord and Licensing Authority. Who also maintain an Event Control station.
‘WE CANNOT RESPOND TO AN ISSUE IF WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT
– WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE CONTACT OUR
HOTLINE BEFORE CALLING YOUR LOCAL COUNCIL, SO WE CAN RESPOND EFFECTIVELY.
HOWEVER WE FULLY RESPECT YOUR RIGHT TO CONTACT YOUR LOCAL COUNCIL AT ANY TIME’
.

THE Haringey Council Events Team was set up under the Kober New Labour Administration for the purpose of intensifying the commercial exploitation of our park.
As the basic maintenance of our public park continues to deteriorate, late this afternoon an Events Team manager issued the notice below to "Stakeholders" ~

A residents’ letter has been delivered to 20k local households surrounding the Park, covering properties in Haringey, Hackney and Islington. The letter - which I’ve attached for reference - details changes taking place within the park and local area which may affect local residents such as changes to parking controls, road closures, changes to public transport etc. Most importantly, the above contact details are provided for anyone wishing to report issues they’ve encountered during the build/beak or event days. We would ask that in the first instance this is the primary route to making complaints or logging issues as these will be recorded and responded to by Festival Republic.
I and other officers will be in the park during the build and break periods monitoring the conditions of hire. Simon Farrow (Head of Parks & Climate Action) and I will be on site during the event days. If you would like to raise any urgent issues regarding the build of the event, please contact us.
The build
Festival contractors will be in the park from 7am tomorrow (24/06), initially installing the perimeter fenceline and main stage. Areas of the park will be closed off to the public as their build progresses. Throughout the hire period, park users will see changes to where they can go within the park. These are also detailed in the attached letter. All facilities within the park will remain open at all times including the playgrounds, ball courts and sports facilities. The only facility that will be out of public use during the hire will be the skate plaza which will reopen following the events. The stake bowl will remain open.
Stakeholder Tours
Each year we invite stakeholders to tour the event site and surrounding areas to see the delivery of the events in action. These enable you to familiarise yourself with the event site, operational aspects of the events in real time, and to ask any questions that may arise. This year the tour will take place on
Date: Friday 3 July, 9pm
Meet: Outside the gates to the Old Jamboree Play building shown on the map below (just within Finsbury Gate, Seven Sisters Road) – please do not enter the area as it is being used as a base by the police.
Itinerary: Internal Event Delivery - The tour will take you into the production and event area as the event is happening and will focus on aspects such as medical provision, internal toilets, noise monitoring on site and event control. We will then go into the event area to see front of house areas.
External Event Delivery – Following the internal event delivery tour, we will progress up to Manor House where the egress will start to take place. The tour will then progress down Seven Sisters Road and will take in the side road stewarding along this area and progress down towards the junction of Stroud Green. Here you will be able to observe the egress across Stroud Green Road and into Finsbury Park station, and as this dies down attendees will be able to witness the commencement of the post event clean up and the removal of the road closures.
The tour will be led by Simon Farrow and myself.
The tour is only for recognised stakeholders and members of the Finsbury Park Events Stakeholder Group. Please confirm your attendance in advance so we can arrange entry into the event arena. Due to tightened security for this year, if you fail to confirm your attendance you will be denied access. Please email me confirmation of your attendance by Wednesday 1 July.
Krankbrother Events
These are smaller events for 9,999 each day which will be taking place over the first two weekends of August. I will send details of these events close to the time.
Kind regards, Sarah
