We've just (finally) finished our buying and selling process - first started this time last year. We have dealt with Winkworth's the whole way through, and found them pretty good, like I said before. However, since this discussion started, the Paul Simon office was taken over by a new team (some of whom where ex-Bairstow Eves). So, they may have improved (our neighbour sold through them, but I haven't spoken to her to get a feeling for how they were).

Looking through HOL, there is a heck of a lot of historical bad feeling towards Paul Simon. I'm aware that they have since been taken over, but can't find any more info on whether they are now trustworthy/reliable etc. If anyone does have any recent experience with them, I'd be extremely grateful if you could let me know.

I don't have direct experience but the guys who took them over used to work at Bairstow Eves and a colleague at my work said they were excellent at BE when acting for the vendor when he bought the house. I think others on HOL have echoed that opinion.

I can also personally vouch for the fact that they have directly engaged with the working group on Certificates of Lawfulness and provided valuable evidence (at some risk) in relation to an illegal conversion on a house which they had sold (the conversion was after they'd sold it).
