There are a couple of companies based in the warehouse district that repair clothes. I suspect they will have someone who might be able to help you.

Hi. There is lots of information on the internet about sewing machine faults and repairs.  I have 2 Toyota 7002 machines in my collection of 24 other machines of different makes, all vintage or antique which I have restored. Most faults are from  lack of maintenance like oiling or cleaning.  What is the fault on your machine?  If you have the manual it shows basic maintenance.  If not you can get one from Merve, at Sewing parts. 07833 020255

The machine is stuck in reverse. So the reverse button on the front of the machine doesn't engage with the arm inside the machine.

Hi Anne.  If you take the top off of the machine (2 screws) you will see that the reverse button presses against a linkage with a lot of points for potential seizure. It would appear that this is problem as the button on its own does not do anything until the linkage is pressing against it.  Check all the linkage and try moving it by hand.  Check for rust or anything else that could cause the problem The spring that operates the linkage is quite strong, Make sure it is not broken.  Oil moving parts with a few drops of good sewing machine oil.  Other oil can do more harm than good.  Richard.
