Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Haringey's enforcement action on rubbish strewn front gardens works

Walking along Wightman to the station over the past few weeks, I've noticed a few gardens literally piled high with rubbish. So I thought I'd test whether Haringey's online Report a Problem service works as a route to resolve it.

On my way home today, by coincidence I assume, two of the gardens were being cleared by white van men. I imagine they're there following a stiff letter from Haringey's enforcement team.

So, two messages:

1. Well done Haringey enforcement team.
2. Neighbours, use the online Report a Problem service - takes two minutes and apparently it works! (Link in right hand column)

Addendum
From comments added below, it sounds like there might be a glitch with using the ojnlien system to report front garden rubbish. To avoid any problems, see my comment below

Hasn't yet worked for one near me. This has prompted me to email enforcement. Thanks Hugh.
What sort of rubbish was it?

If the council reduced their fee for collecting bulky rubbish it might help alleviate the problem.

Also the council says it organises a Community Clear Up Service on an annual basis (between September and March) - the last one iirc in our road was several years ago. And this year's schedule has yet to be published.
No, the rubbish in the garden I'm concerned about is more the 'too tight to shell out for a skip' sort of rubbish!
Hasn't worked for me either. I used the 'Report a Problem' e-form and received a reply saying that as the waste was in a front garden, it wasn't within the remit of Haringey Enterprise. The problem has been passed to Waste Management, who haven't been in touch and haven't done anything about it.
Where does the Enforcement Team fit into this. Do I need to get in touch with them rather than Enterprise or Waste Management?
That all sounds disappointing. For me it was very simple. I just used the online system. I went via the link to the right here, then clicked through to their eform and selected other from the drop down list. I then immediately got a confirmation:

Looking at my emails I've just noticed that a dumped rubbish report using the eform but selecting Rubbish - dumped instead of other seems to be channelled through to and responded to by Enterprise. It sounds like they haven't yet got a way of helping us categorise according to their way of thinking and dealing with 'miscategorisations'. So, it sounds like there's might be glitch here. I'll let them know. I'll also amend the original post.

With your issue, A & D, how about going through the Report a Problem route again, making sure you select the other category? Then let us all know what happens.
Yes, that's right. I just reported rubbish dumped in the street this morning but as a result of a garden overflowing with rubble, old furniture etc. I reported it as "Rubbish - Dumped". I used the online form at about 8.30am this morning and got a call back at 9.40am from Enterprise. Very impressive. They've booked to collect the dumped rubbish on the street within 24 hours. However, for the rubbish dumped in the front garden, they'll pass that to enforcement, which is a much slower process because it involves writing to the house owner etc. They explained that enforcement should get in touch with me to explain more about what they're going to do, but in my experience, it's not worth holding your breath.
You jog my memory. Actually following the email I also got a phone call from enforcement.

Is it worth trying the online reporting route? At least that way there's an email trail and an enforcement reference number to refer back to. There are a few others I've reported also. So let's see if this was a one-off or freakish coincidence. It's certainly beginning to sound like it!
Same for me, I reported a squalid garden as Dumped Rubbish, got reply that it would be passed on to Enforcement. Nothing since. I will try the Other route in a week or so.

Maybe if I was to suggest it is a fire risk???

This is what happens when people are allowed to buy houses for profit. They already cut down a 100-year-old tree. No souls, obviously.
I also paid Haringey Enterprise in advance to come and collect rubbish from our front garden - trying to avoid the huge numbers of offers we were getting to take it away from less obviously certified people - and it took three and a half weeks! It's a real mistake to make it hard for people to get their rubbish collected in the proper way.
I wrote and requested the "white goods" collection for my old tumble dryer. I got no response at all, but the dryer disappeared within a week from my front garden - who knows whether it was Haringey or the rag-and-bone man who took it.
There seems to be an ad lib rag and bone business operating at the house to the side of Medlocks on Effingham (126). Two white vans and a pick up (who are constantly getting fines and throwing them on the floor). Don't know whether they recycle or mend their load or just dump it elsewhere?
Have you taken the registration and given it to Glynn and SNT? It's a UK one so shouldn't be hard for them to see why the owners don't care.
