Thanks Giovanna. You've done a fantastic job of making it so easy to contribute to the consultation.
I've submitted my objection and encourage everyone else to do the same. There is no valid reason for the removal of this tree.
Anyone from anywhere can submit their objection. Tell your friends!
Thanks, please do share far and wide! Gio
Done! I'd like to add my thanks and appreciation for Giovanna's impressive work – I failed to save my local street tree several years back, and very much hope this campaign will be more successful!
Sorry to hear this Maren, where was your tree?
Objection submitted.
Well done, Giovanna, for your commitment and tenacity!
Thanks so much, do spread the word as the consultation ends on Tuesday!

The tree blocks wheelchairs from using the pavement, and it's hard to get a buggy past. Please replace it with a tree that fits its situation.
More broadly, there is a problem with big trees and subsidence (especially on London clay and hill sides). And the necessary pruning of the plane trees every 2 or 3 years destroys birds' nests. I'd back a programme to replace the planes with a variety of smaller, prettier trees. The cost would be recouped by saving on pruning.
Hi David, I do get by with my bike so not sure why there is a problem - the tree definitely needs a better soil pit though. the victorians were not thinking of the climate crisis when they planted these trees a century ago...but they were thinking about London smog and pollution which plane trees are amazing at sucking up for us. An arb told me this tree would have absorbed tons of carbon in its lifetime. We have these trees and we have to live with them and to lose them would be a loss for our beatiiful area but also for our lungs and general health. You simply can't replace the loss of a big mature tree with little ornamental trees - they do an enormous amount of heavy lifting of absorbing pollution, absorbing flood water, cooling our streets, little trees just don't cut it. It's like replacing a pound with a penny. 30% of new trees also die in the first few years - our climate is so changed now, we get hottter summers. We just have to work round the small occasional bother of going over a bump and think about the bigger picture for all of us, our kids, familes, our health and keeping our area looking wonderful.
