Hi everyone, just wanted to chime in and say how much I appreciate this thread. It's so helpful to have a space where we can share tips and support each other. I recently found a lovely vintage armchair on the curb and was able to give it a new home through a local group. It's always nice to see items being reused and kept out of landfill. If anyone's looking to pass on furniture or other items, I'd be happy to help connect you with someone in need. Let's keep supporting each other and making our community even stronger.

Very nice Lucy, more power to your elbow :)
We've been running Repair Cafés in Haringey since 2022. We help people repair their own stuff - we're not a free fixing service, people who come in do the work themselves. We guide and suggest, helping you overcome obstacles and lending a hand.

Here's a 'before and after'
We don't charge, we aim to help you get better at repair and reuse. We have a few specialists we call in as and when. Richard (pictured) will be there tomorrow (17th May) at Broadwater Farm for example but is not at every event. Why not pop in with some stuff? Best venues are Wood Green, Hornsey and Tottenham (they are quite spacious):
