It's National Insect Week (wot again already!)
National Insect Week aims to encourage learning about the insect world and its diversity. It is organised by the Royal Entomological Society and is supported by a large number of partner organisations concerned with many aspects of insect science, natural history and biodiversity.
"Something we perhaps often forget here in the UK is that biodiversity isn’t just about wildlife in exotic locations. Get involved in National Insect Week and you’ll discover that insect diversity is just as relevant and fascinating to explore in your garden or local countryside as it is in the savannahs, deserts, wetlands and rainforests of the tropics.", say the organisers.

In the spirit of National Insect Week, Mr Growbag has taken a few snaps of some of the things living in his garden at the moment. He did also see a damselfly yesterday, but none were obviously around this morning... anyone else got any interesting insect shots?
Some kind of bug, gazing from a Lupin
Ladybird on tomato cane
Tiny golden spider on flowerheads
Wish I didn't have any of these. Pesky, but pretty Rosemary Beetles eating my sage...

I don't have any photos but if anyone would like to see some beautiful electric blue damselflies in action I would recommend a walk along the New River between Green Lanes and Seven Sisters. I've also seen an impressively large hawker dragonfly down there too.
