Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Criminal damage / arson at Lavas Restaurant, Westbury Ave
Hi all,
Lavas, the Turkish restaurant with the nice roadside decking on Westbury Ave (30 metres from Turnpike Lane tube, just before Frome Rd), is closed after suffering what looks like an arson attack. The shutters are down and there's broken glass and soot/smoke damage visible.
Two local PCSOs informed me last night that they think it was something gang-related, to do with the snooker club upstairs. I don't have any further details.
Lavas is one of the best restaurants in the area – in my opinion even better than any on Green Lanes – and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Nobody was hurt in the attack but please show them your support if you happen to see them in the upcoming weeks.
If they re-open (I really hope they do) and you've never been before, you can support them by stopping by.

Hi Joe,
My boyfriend and I were also really sad to see Lavas looking so derelict. It added a lovely feel to that street and the restaurant and customers alike were always friendly. I have found their website, on which is a contact form for bookings. I'm sure if people want to show their support in writing this could be a suitable way.

Hi, Everyone,
Please do. Lavas Restaurant supported the Noel Park Community Festival last year with a generous donation and is one of the nicest restaurants in Wood Green. The owner, Salman, and his business partner genuinely believe in providing good quality cooking and a warm and friendly service. My partner and I have been going there regularly since moving to Noel Park and our community have found ourselves missing this local haunt since it burned down.
