Introduction of compulsory evisas in UK for ALL non-uk passport holders - registration mandatory
Either me and mine have had our heads in the sand or the introduction of compulsory evisas for all non-UK passport holders is being introduced with the minimum of fanfare.
As I understand it, anyone in the UK on a foreign passport, Indefinite Leave to Remain or not, will have to have registered for an evisa to enter the country after 31 December this year.
I'm posting this in case anyone else who may be affected hasn't heard about it.

I think it's a tit-for-tat response to the EU visa waiver scheme (ETIAS) which is coming in next year for all non-EU visitors.

Not really, this was originally an EU directive and was continued after Brexit. All bio-metric cards in the last several years have been issued with 31/12/24 expiry date.

Yes, that's right - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/biometric-residence-permit--2. It's apparently been around a long time, but it's completely passed us by. No one I know with a paper-based residence permit has received any communication from the Government informing them of the change. Any knowledge transmitted seems to have gone through informal networks. The Government websites say it takes up to 6 months for the transfer from paper to e-visa to be completed. So, if you're on an RP and are planning a return trip with one part later than 31/12/24, you're in a bit of a tight spot. It's not clear what latitude there will be.

If anyone knows anything about how this is going to affect people claiming asylum who have Application Registration Cards (ARC) I'd be grateful to hear from you. Next to nothing online about this except a page on the University of Plymouth's website about how international students will be affected:
"I'm an Asylum seeker do I need to switch to an eVisa?
If you hold an Application Registration Card (ARC) that proves your status in the UK then you won't be able to switch to the eVisa at this time.Your ARC will continue to be valid and you may be issued a new physical card in the future.UKVI will contact you should you need to change to the eVisa at a later time."
