Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello residents of Haringey,

I have a prosumer Espresso Maker, and a coffeeshop grade grinder that I’d like to give away, free of charge. There are a couple of catches, and I will get to them.

The Espresso machine is an Izzo Vivi. Here’s a link to the model I have, and it includes a photo. https://www.best-of-italy.com/shop.php?pid=667888&lang=se&c...

It is an E61 machine, made from industry standard parts that are easily sourced, and replaceable. It’s meant for home use. I bought it in 2009.

Here’s catch number one. I used the machine daily for many years, and was very good about descaling it. Until I wasn’t. And now the boiler needs removing, and a proper descaling, so ideally you will be someone that can deal with this.

Fixing it is well beyond my technical abilities. Everything else works fine, the pump, the electrics, the steam wand, etc. When turned on, the descaling alarm sounds, and that will stop once the issue is addressed.

I’m unable to take the machine to an espresso repair shop myself, but that is also an option, if you are like me, and not technical. Like I said, it’s all assembled out of industry standard parts, so it can be repaired.

I have all the original documentation, which includes diagrams of the internals. I also have loads of accessories, including several porta-filters, a knock box, a couple of tamps, a jug to froth milk, and a few other bits, and pieces.

If repaired, and well maintained, like I used to do, it could keep going for years.

The grinder is a Macap M4. It was in perfect working order the last time I used it. It just needs a clean. Here’s a link to an online listing, with a pic: https://espressocare.com/products/macap-mc4-manual-chrome-espresso-...

My main goal is to find someone willing to fix it all up. I’d hate to see it go to waste. And once it is fixed up, if you don’t want to keep it, it would have a decent resale value.

This kit gave me years of enjoyment, and making good coffee was a hobby for quite a while. I’d like to pass on the experience, if you have a passion for good coffee. If you don’t, but you’re still willing to fix it up, I’d be happy.

The only other catch, besides fixing up the espresso machine, is that you would need to collect from me. The espresso machine weighs a fair bit, as does the grinder, so you will need transport. And the WG in WGDoug, unsurprisingly stands for Wood Green, so I am local.

Realise this is an unusual offer, but hopefully one of you will be interested. Feel free to reply to this thread, or message me directly. Happy to answer questions as well. Thanks for reading this.

Hi Doug, just sent you a connection request. Might be able to take this off your hands if still available. Tanyeem

Hi Tanyeem,

I've accepted your request, and yes it is still available, and sitting near my front door. Please message me with any questions

Hi Doug,

I'd also be very interested in this! Love coffee and love repairing things!

Hi Junipers,

I have accepted your connection request. Please feel free to message me directly

Hi again everyone,

The espresso machine & grinder have now been claimed, and collected. It went to a good, new home, and should be brewing coffee again soon.

Thank you to everyone who replied, and to Haringey Online for making it easy to connect with nice local folks!

Cheers.

Doug
