Private Eye reports on fire risks at Haringey Council's 5+storey housing blocks.
There were life critical fire safety defects reported in all 80 blocks: defective fire doors, compartmentation breaches, and combustible external wall systems.
Amongst many other blocks, Newbury House and John Keats House in Wood Green each have 15 storeys, a single staircase, defective fire doors, and six vertical ribbons of combustible external panels up the sides of the building,
- but t hey are still rated at 'tolerable risk of fire', which means NO NEED for any major expenditure.
All of the elements of a major fire disaster are in place in this borough.
The question is, what is Haringey Council going to do about it?

Well done Paul for your persistence in highlighting the current situation within the borough.
Thanks Peter
Hi Paul, well done on getting this information out there. Re what is the council going to do, as the answer seems to be nothing given they think the risk is "tolerable" as per the article, perhaps it's worth contacting London Fire Brigade to see if they might inspect some blocks and look at whether recommendations of FRAs have been completed and if are happy the buildings are safe too?
Thanks, good idea.
