What is happening to the Toll Gate Pub? Neighbour visited recently & said it was closed & locked but all lights still on at 10pm. Recognised a few old customers at the 41 bus stop.Any news welcome.

It looks like The Nelson (Jolly Butchers Hill) is opening as a pub again. Not sure when, under what name, or what the theme is ((sports etc)).

Neighbour visited again & still closed prior to Coronation bank holiday Is it open yet, does anyone know or even a reopening date?

Walked by today and happened to meet the owner as he was coming out of the pub. He said that it would be reopening this Friday after the refurbishment. He also mentioned they would serve food the following week.

Popped in yesterday evening for a drink. I found the place to be much the same inside except the back was basically empty with one or fwo tables apparently closed; there are also now large TV screens loudly playing music videos on rotation (“Sound of the 70s” and the like). Service was enthusiastic and pretty friendly albeit somewhat chaotic. The biggest issue however is that it transpired a pint was about £2 more than under the previous ownership. There is also (at present) no food. In short, the reasons there were (on my calculation) to trek up there are no longer applicable. I don’t anticipate going back.
