Just to let everyone know that the Haringey Liberal Democrats launched their manifesto for the forthcoming council elections on 6th May 2010. You can download and view a copy if you visit our local Harringay Libdems website which is www.harringay.mycouncillor.org.
The Neighbourhood Improvement Fund will be a ward based fund that replaces Making the Difference (MTD) but with fairer and more funding. Currently the MTD fund is £50,000 per Area Assembly (Total £350k). Finer details yet to be agreed but the aim is for the new fund to be £25,000 per ward (total £475k) for ward specific schemes. Improvements will be decided by local residents on a ward by ward basis. We will reduce bureaucracy in the current process and target more community based initiatives.
I suppose it's a bit parochial of us to notice that the new MTD ward based funding will indeed be larger and fairer to those wards which make up a three-ward neighbourhood. It leaves Harringay (and St Anns) as at present with £25K each to bid for.
Losing 'Haringey People' at £350,000+ could , in theory, leave each ward with an extra £18,420 for Haringey people to bid for.
Or will our new look 'Haringey People' be slimmed down by just one third?!
