Van thieves on Rutland Gardens
A warning to van drivers: I think some thieves were out to steal goods from vans tonight.
I was walking down Rutland Gardens this evening just after 5pm and noticed a car driving very close to a parked van. It seemed odd to me. The car drove up the road and do the same to another van, and this time I saw the passengers lean out and try both the door handles to see if they were unlocked. When I shouted a challenge they swore at me and drove off at speed.
I think it might have been a grey Vauxhall Insignia, but it happened pretty fast so I could be wrong. I hope they got the impression they weren't wanted round here! Keep your vans locked.

Thank you for raising awareness. My dad had his tools stolen from Rutland Hardnes last year - the van was unlocked for loading and all it took was 5 minutes for them to check it was unlocked and steal the tools. They must drive around targeting tradesman all day long. Stay vigilant and always lock your vehicles, no matter how quickly you will be
