Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I've just moved in, and have turned the garden into a 9 ft mountain of vegetation.

I'd rather burn it efficiently in an incinerator than create an enormous smoky bonfire (actually that's not true - who doesn't enjoy a big fire? - but is certainly more considerate to the neighbours)

I'd also rather shred and compost it but it contains the dreaded knotweed, so must be burned.

thanks very much for your help

I'd be interested to know how you get on with this - can an incinerator handle fresh (ie. moist) vegetation?
I certainly hope it can, but I've got a broken down shed to fuel it with too. I'll let you know
Do I infer correctly from your message that you have an incinerator already?
Or is it just wishful thinking on my part?
Hi David,

I do indeed have an incinerator you are more than welcome to borrow. I too had a jungle of a back garden to deal with when I first moved here.

The incinerator itself has taken quite a battering over the last few years but is still perfectly functional. Of course if you burn wet vegitation you will get a lot of smoke. If the weather permits it it would be much better to cut everything back and let it dry out for a few days before burning. And of course warn neighbours to shut windows. (I've made that mistake before!)

Drop me a message if you'd like to come by and pick it up. I'm on Cavendish Road.

Chris
thanks very much. I'd be very grateful..

I've tried to send you a message through the site, but we need to be friends apparently. I've sent a request, but failing that, my mobile is 07931837022

Thanks again
Wishful thinking I'm afraid, though it looks like you are in luck anyway...!
