Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

My 25-year-old son has been looking unsuccessfully for a part-time job since before Christmas, and applied for many different kinds of posts online. Often he receives no reply, not even an acknowledgement of the application, and has only had one interview which turned out to be for a full-time job - he is finding the process very dispiriting, despite the much-reported shortage of workers.

He is a sculptor/painter and needs to work 2-3 days a week (20+hours) to support himself and pay for his studio. He has many skills, both practical and personal, and a wide range of job experience, much of it in people-facing roles. If anyone here has any suggestions or knows of any vacanceis I'm sure he would be very glad to hear from them.

hi maddy what minimum wage would your son accept and does he live in london ?

There seems to be no end of jobs going in hospitality if he's happy doing bar or kitchen work.

Also retail. I've noticed loads of adverts in windows in Muswell Hill and South Ken. Also some of the big book stores in town.

Boots in Crouch End had an advert in the window

hi maddy. i'm also looking for funding to be able to live as a full time artist. could we meet to compare notes and drink coffee ?

If he can work weekends please ask him to email me his CV to raj@thecolumbogroup.com.

Thanks

Wheely Tots is recruiting for freelance session leaders, info here https://wheelytots.com/recruitment/

there's a link to a security job at mothercare

The Territorial Army or RAF, Navy or Marines reserves might be a good option. It's not 2-3 days per week but will help with some of his bills. He'll get more out of it than a casual job in a high street shop.

He could stand in the next council elections.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - I have passed them on to him.
