I have stupidly knocked a full bottle of cat metacam down the back of my washing machine, which you can’t access either side of it. Unless I get someone to drag the washing machine out. So thought maybe one of those long grips things people have to pick stuff off the floor. One of my old cats is supposed to take it daily to prevent cystitis, although I try to avoid doing that as much as I can by doing other stuff. But Sod’s law with vets now closed until next Wednesday, he will need it and you need to take a bank loan out to see an emergency vet
or if anyone has any metacam I can potentially borrow on standby

Sorry unable to assist. I'm a bit surprised though at Metacam being used for this purpose. I've always understood it to be an anti-inflammatory used for pain management. Back when my late elderly cat went through a phase of urinary infections, Carol Hill (so sadly also late) had her on a very low dose of antibiotic long term (Clavaseptin). At some point I gradually took her off this and the infections didn't return.
My cat was prescribed Metacam by Hills when he had cystitis
The lovely Mrs Hill RIP. I also use the fantastic hills vet
Yes in the old days it was thought to be due to bacterial infection, and he too was given antibiotics. But nowadays, it’s known to be more frequently due to other things, and a tiny dose of metacam works a treat
That's really interesting, thanks. I am also aware that Metacam can't be used in combination with thyroid medication which could have been a factor in relation to my cat.
hi tigha. I have a 'long hand grip'. the kind used by shopkeepers. i use it exactly for the reasons you gave. private message me.
We have some metacam for dogs. Different brand name I think. But you can have if you need it
Thankyou so so much, so hoping I don’t need it before Wednesday, but maybe you could text me so I have your number just in case over the next few days

Do you have any duct tape and a broom handle?
A car mechanic told me he gets many a dropped thing from hard to reach places by making a loop of duct tape with the sticky side outside.
Stick that on the end of a stick at least the diameter of the thing you're trying to pick up, press it against the object and gently heave upwards, trying not to catch it on anything before it gets to safety.
Good luck obtaining more metacam or retrieving the original!
