Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Having decided that an extension into the side return at the rear of our house. (typical of locality). is too pricey. I'm considering a lean to instead.

I'm thinking of DIY as I'm fairly handy and am thinking of using the space for a small workshop with bench. I have seen some dreadful shacks at the side of some houses and am wary of losing our lovely south facing light.

Anyone managed to do this successfully?

Will try to attach rubbish photo.....

Actually we already have a cabin I built some years ago, a great Wickes scandi style chalet. Its for the use of my wife tho.....

Philip, sorry to drag this thread back up two years on, but did you ever go ahead with anything to make use of your side return?

We're also looking to utilise this space, but like a few others I've spoken to locally, have found that the cost for an extension that opens up into the existing house is uneconomical in terms of cost of build vs value add to the property.

Now exploring something that sits nicely between overly expensive extension, and lean-to shack, but struggling for ideas!

Actually we sold up and moved to Edmonton and bought a much larger house with the dosh!

Hi Matt, did you end up doing the side return / lean to?

We went a bit more ambitious and did a full rear and side-return extension.

Who did you use @matt?

Jimmy Marku, couldn't recommend him more highly.
