Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Dear fellow gardeners,

We're having our annual St Paul's Harringay Village Fete on 3rd July. We're excited to be holding it In Real Life and we're celebrating being able to do something local and not on screen. It's a village fete in the sense that we're bringing the best, quaintest village traditions into the urban jungle.

In that spirit, I thought it would be fun to have a vegetable growing competition. Bring your biggest spud/marrow/runner bean and we'll have a judging moment with an actual rosette and undying local glory for the biggest of each type. Personally I have high hopes of entering my first-ever edible potato. And maybe a broad bean.

I should clarify that this is strictly NOT as competitive as the veg growing competitions of the English shire I grew up in. Just a lovely post-lockdown thing.

Hope to see you there.

I've had to rescind this veg competition: I need to give it more thought and sub-categories and bring it back another year! Hopefully it will see the light of day again.
