Hi David

Cut & pasted from a general gadget manuals website:

"This optional converter allows you to convert an S-VIDEO signal into an RGB signal: Now you can enjoy superb Hi8 picture quality on a TV without an S-VIDEO terminal, if it is equipped with a SCART terminal that corresponds to an RGB signal".

Cheers Paul. I found the same blurb when searching online. I'm still not much clearer on it's application and still have no use for it, but thanks for the info.
