Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Roadworks on Green Lanes north of Endymion are causing long delays coming out of the Sainsbury car park - not helped by selfish idiots trying to jump the queue by exiting via the incoming lanes and going the wrong side of the keep-left bollards.

Not a good day to buy ice cream (unless you bring a spoon with you ).

Love the lexical inventiveness John. We should build that in to a new Harringay argot (but careful lest someone pick you up on your use of a non-standard word!). ;o)
Same here. I top up via baldwins and yassir halim with the odd online shop thrown in, i can't see there is anything to be gained from actually going to Sainsburys.
I live hideously close to Sainsbury's and am always astounded by the drivers who persist in their struggle to get in and out of the carpark. Ahhh as Spring arrives and nature's great wheel turns, who needs the song of the returning birds or the fresh smell of the reviving earth pushing up the bud... when you can have car hooting, overflowing tension, aggression and carbon monoxide. Dear old Sainsbury's, purveyor of over priced, farmer numbing, air mile consuming, regulation size comestibles.

Shop from Green Lanes. It may not have 'SO organic' or 'Taste the Difference' on it but it somehow feels a bit more honest.

Follow Concernedres' advice and vote with the feet.
Really?
Mu understanding is that the veggies on green lanes are frozen & trucked across from Eastern Europe. This is why they rot so quickly and don't taste of anything!
It is interesting how people fail to see this. It's all trucked in whether to shops on GL or Sainsbury's. The latter does do a roaring trade though in English tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, potatoes, milk, eggs, mushrooms ..... and yes it's fresh!
fresh local seasonal food is available from farmers' markets - make sure to choose a certified one such as Stoke Newington (Sat), Islington or Walthamstow (Sun). Or take the W5 (if it can escape Sainslock) to Crouch End Budgens, who are about to start growing food on their roof.
I too have started having my shopping delivered due to the absolute chaos of the Arena retail park. It was also compounded when I had my handbag stolen in Sainsbury's and had to have the locks changed on my car - it is still in the garage 12 days later as the recovery truck broke the steering lock when removing it. Anyway, I digress.

I got my first delivery yesterday and it was brilliant - everything I wanted, only £3 delivery charge and the driver was courteous and friendly and brought my shopping up two flights of stairs. So much better than being stuck in traffic with a three year old and having to haul it all home.

Perhaps if more people followed suit, the traffic problem would ease. The new car park lay out has eased the problem slightly but having traffic lights onto Green Lanes is always going to cause a jam, especially if there's road works as well.
John, the road workers are busy fixing ... potholes. :)
I appreciate that. The post was simply meant as a warning that it might be better to avoid driving to Sainsbury's
Well it was OK today.
