Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone have an ORIGINAL ceiling rose?

We're restoring a house on Stanhope Gardens and trying to be fairly faithful to the original design. Does anyone have an original ceiling rose from a house in the area and could you send me a photo?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Our living room ones are pretty much identical to Dominic’s - about 30 inches diameter.

There are likely to be different designs across the Ladder. It all depends on what the builder of your house chose from the pattern book.

Plain ones like this were what had become fashionable by the end of the century for standard houses. As I understand it, after about 1860 when gelatine moulds were introduced, roses and cornices were cast in complete pieces and then fitted on site. The moulds were generally bought from a pattern book and used in plaster workshops. Builders working at sufficiently large scale might have had their own workshop. Smaller scale builders would have bought in from an independent plaster workshop.
