So, according to this HP story*, it was Ally Pally & Swains Lane that mucked up German Y-Gerat precision, thus dropping bombs (destined for the railway stations) on Wightman Road, Fairlands Park and the Gardens ? Any bombs dropped on Highgate or Ally Pally?

Elsewhere in HP, it's the shock lack of coverage that stands out: the cover-to-cover banishment of our already lamented Environment Czar, Cllr Brian Haley. Nilgun's there, and Gina and Mayor Bernice and Dilek Dogus. John Bevan even gets a look in - is this a first? But who's now posing at the wheel of the Smart Car? Who's driving the Greenest Borough spiel? Who's single-handedly wiping out CO2 with the oxygen of publicity? The Guardian's Kober Kid, of course.
The HP airbrush moves faster than even Shefik's full page clean sweep. But what's this on page 6? Reduced to a miserable few lines at the end of the 'IN BRIEF' column: 'Cllr Brian Haley, cabinet member for environment and conservation ....' Brian seems to be manning the streetscene phone line: Haringey says, tell us your problems. Brian seems to have a few.
And finally: In case you thought the recession wasn't biting the ass off Independent School Parents, HIGHGATE SCHOOL has a full page ad on page 8 (opposite the Kober Kid's HOT TOPIC on supporting Crouch End business). So has Highgate an empty classroom or two to fill, or just a few vacant stools at the back of a broom cupboard? Is this the great West-East outreach to those (not so deep)pockets of deprivation?Anyway, "financial help, called tottenhamhandouts bursaries, may be available for families who are not able to pay school fees." (There's a lively thread somewhere on HOL about Independent School places.)
So tell me, who has put the wind up Highgate School? Fortismere? Gladesmore? Heartlands High? Horney School for Girls? (Or could it even be their neighbours, St Aloysius' on Horney Lane ? - but that's Islington.)
Maybe we could get the AP boffins to reactivate the beam bending so that some copies of the Haringey People could be dropped at this end of Wightman Road ? I have been spared their bombshells for at least the last two years.
