Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I don't have a decent enough camera to capture it properly, but there's a little egret on the New River today! Stunning, elegant thing. Not sure I've ever seen one before - I know they only returned to the UK in 1996.

Anyone else ever spotted one here?

I haven't. I've seen a heron not infrequently, but never an egret.

The heron parks up outside our gaff most days, but this was a first.

You're going to have to invest in a long lens!

I have already come to this expensive conclusion. You shouldn't encourage me.

Friend saw a cormorant yesterday diving in NR in  Hornsey

Fantastic to hear this. It's one for Springwatch surely.

I saw it too and uploaded a vid to #springwatch on Twitter asking what it was. Now my speculation has been confirmed! Unfortunately I’m having problems uploading my video here.

Julia, You can’t upload videos direct to HOL. The platform owners charge another premium for that. But if it’s on YouTube, you can embed it in a post or as a stand-alone video.

I saw this too and even got a very blurry photo - about 8.30 this morning.

Well done, Alison.

Three of them this morning! Two stalking away in the shallows while one sits in a willow watching them.

That lens, that lens......it’s beckoning you, Arkady.
