There's one in Wembley but they are all by referral or appointment.

You can either go through the NHS or the .Gov site. The latter is recommended unless an emergency. https://self-referral.test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/test-type

The big question is how you would get there if you don't have a car. Should people with Covid symptoms really be getting public transport - or cycling to Wembley?

It's really weird that the Government has gone for such a centralised car-dependent model of testing rather than using selected NHS or GP facilities to make more local testing available

I agree- we don't have a car and the website says no taxis are allowed.

They are drive through services, and for obvious reasons you shouldn't use a taxi if you're symptomatic, so unless you or someone in your household has a car you can't use them.  I rather suspect a failure of imagination on the part of the people who planned this and didn't realise lots of people (particularly in London)don't drive.  I manage a team of frontline homeless health staff and none of them are able to access tests this way

It's really shocking - 24% of households in the UK as a whole have no car according to the Government's travel survey: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/...

In London around 46% of households don't have a car: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/technical-note-12-how-many-cars-are-there...

There is one in lee valley car park across from the odeon cinema

Although I live on green lanes, my GP is on the hackney side of the border and sent this to me on Friday:

“the government has announced more dates for the mobile Coronavirus test centre in Hackney. It is open in Dalston on Friday 8 & Saturday 9 May. The test centre is only for SYMPTOMATIC people who are key workers, can't work from home, or the over 65s & members of their households. You will only be tested if you have booked an appointment online at
https://self-referral.test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/ If attending on foot type WALKING when asked for a vehicle reg when booking. Tests should be taken within 3 days of developing symptoms; this is when the test is most accurate.”

Thats all I know. Sharing the info for whoever needs to know and can get there.

I’m on the look out for something more local, that will eventually also cover people with underlying conditions (like me) who are on the governments vulnerables register. So I’ll  be watching this space....!
