Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Lordship Rec - new playground
I visited the new playground at the reopened Lordship Rec today. It was lovely with lots of great new things for kids to play on, including a train and a fairy castle. Well done Haringey Council but WHERE ARE THE BENCHES? It's a great playground but where are adults supposed to sit? I sat on the tarmac but if you're pregnant or have babies to tend to this would be impossible. Does anyone know whether they are planning to put in benches or some seating? If not, this is a pretty useless playground as far as I'm concerned!

I've passed your comments on to the Lordship Rec Friends group (don't know if any of them frequent HOL) - it is possible that benches are part of a later phase in the plans for the Rec.

That's great, thanks very much. I did ask one of the park stewards whether benches were in the plan but he laughed and said it was all finished! Louise

The playground was designed after much discussion with the Friends of
Lordship Rec and other users. At the last minute, unbeknown to the Friends,
there was a cost over-run and it was unfortunately decided to drop the
benches! The Council have since promised to put in benches as soon as
practically possible, and also bins. Also the new turfing laid is being
watered daily but may not take and so may need to be re-done.

Many thanks for letting me know, I'll spread the word that they are anticipated at some point, as there were some very puzzled Mums and Dads in the playground at the weekend!
