Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Very much an end-of-year footnote given the time, with sunrise 25 minutes away and an indifferent weather forecast. A day out in York for the early-to-rise.

Steam in 2020 - first offering is the elusive 'Duchess of Sutherland' with the 'Valentine's White Rose' to York on Sat 15 Feb, at Harringay rather early approx. 0730.   I thought red roses were traditional.....

Historically, and in Shakespeare's Wars of the Roses, yes. Over in the Language of Flowers, red roses (of course) for romantic love, white roses for purity. Back to Shakespeare - Ophelia even refers to St Valentine's Day though she's off her head when she does. 

And on this auspicious day, red and white? Red we can take as a given (especially in the Tottenham constituency). But white? I give you Martin Bell, the Man in the White Suit. Truly an example to more venal politicians.

Sorry Gordon, I didn't pick up on the Valentine's reference.
