Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Shelton have applied for planning permission again (hoping for third time lucky perhaps?). I haven't quite got my head around how this application differs from the previous one as it isn't at all clear from the application or plans, but I imagine will be a pared down version of the previous application which failed. The letter I got about it describes the proposal as the erection of a side extension at ground and first floor levels. So a two level extension (the first was for a four level one; the second for a three level one).

The case reference is HGY/2009/1257. All the details can be seen online here. On my letter it says written comments must be received within 21 days of receipt of the letter. It was dated 21 July so I take that as being comments by around 21/22 August.

Previous discussions about the Shelton are here and here.

Section 19 of the application says that the new development will add on 69 square metres to the existing 770 square metres. Oddly, the same section asks for details of the number of rooms that will added, but this has been left blank (which makes it very hard to get a sense of what the proposals actually mean in practice).

If you compare the plans for the existing and proposed ground/first/second floors it seems as though the new plans would result in their being four rooms on the ground floor (currently two), nine on the first (currently eight) and seven on the second (currently eight). So a net addition of two rooms?

In addition, the layout of the lower ground floor (referred to as the basement on the existing floor plan) would change to give more dining space and the existing 'lobby' (ahem) on the ground floor seems to have become a planted area ...

There are two parking spaces on the new plan, plus handy cycle parking for all those cycling tourers who frequent the Harringay area.

What do people think? Must confess it seems like a lot of work for a few more rooms??
Thanks Alison

This seems like they want to get any planning permission and the will probably be creative with the building work.

I see that many new developments put cycling parks on their plans as they know that they are key aspects that they council love.
I'm sure you're right. Along the same lines I suspect is the associated document about rainwater harvesting... I'm not kidding.
Haha, just posted about the same thing!
Thanks for flagging this up (yet) again, Alison. I've just tried making an objection on the Haringey website. But as with last time I don't see my comments yet. Have you left comments, and if so did you do so through the planning services website?
Tried to object too, but something wrong with their server :o(
Last time around I ended up emailing my comments to CustomerCare.Team@haringey.gov.uk, and that worked. I fear I may need to do so again
Just checked back and my comment is there now. It seems to take rather longer than the 30 seconds advertised. If you try again in an hour or so, Colin, it ought to be there...
There seem to be very few objections appearing on Haringey's site - has anybody had any problems posting their comments or have there just not been very many objections this time around?
Surprisingly there's no obj from lcsp (lcsp@blueyonder.co.uk). Might be worth dropping them a note about it to see what they're doing.
Thanks, Hugh. I'll drop them a line now
I think I have worked out the problem with the site. You cannot simply object. You must also leave a comment. I hope this helps and encourages more people to object.
