I first met David Martin back in the early days of Harringay Online when a group of local people who worked from home or ran small businesses got together for some local networking. David's blend of affability and professionalism struck me then and when I met him again recently, I was glad to see that a decade of running a growing successful small accountancy practice hadn't knocked the goodness out of him. He's grown the business somewhat since 2008 and has put together a small team that reflects his style of friendliness and professionalism.
Choosing someone to sit down with to discuss your financial affairs isn't easy. It means placing a great deal of trust in someone to deal with matters that we normally keep quite private. I think David's track record locally as witnessed by the warm recommendations he's given on Harringay Online indicate that he's got his approach right. His team seem to follow the pattern.
David works with a wide range of customers, from people that need support with completing their personal tax returns, to small and medium-sized businesses. His clients nowadays even include some international firms.
When we sat down for a chat in local cafe, Snug, David explained that no matter who his clients are, he adopts the same basic approach. "We never want to be corporate", he explained, "We're always informal, as we find that helps build better relationships with people".
It doesn't take long before David reveals the passion behind his business. "We're not really about numbers. I'm more driven by helping people to achieve their goals and the lifestyle they're seeking".
David and his team take an up-close-and-personal approach with businesses. They spend minimal time engaging with clients from behind a desk. "You're not really in the best position to help people unless you get involved with the business to some extent. I much prefer to go and see people at their place of work and immerse myself in what's going on".
Being on site puts David in prime position to offer an additional business brain where it's wanted. He finds himself helping with business planning, thinking though a business model, or by offering ideas on marketing and anything else where he can add value.

I still use David's services after 3 years of finding the recommendation on HoL. Now deal with Natalie, which reminds me that I owe her an email ready for 2017/18 tax returns.
