Rubbish everywhere
Hi all,
Is it just me or has the rubbish/litter/flytipping situation become a lot worse on the Ladder roads in recent months. We live on Warham Road and recently more and more litter has been dumped on the sidewalk (from beanbag to mattresses, plastic bags full of household waste etc etc). When walking around it is hard not to come across milk cartons, plastic bags and cans rolling around on the roads.
I have been reporting those on the Haringey council website and have been shocked to see the amount of reports/complaints on their website/area map.
One problem seems to be that some multi-occupancy houses do not have enough bins to cope with the waste. How can we alert the council? What other measures can be taken besides alerting council?
We are all paying a very decent amount in council tax and we should be able to get decently cleaned roads and sidewalks for that.

It's a Borough Wide Issue. Mainly since Council Followed the lead to Collect Refuse every other Week. Plus many more properties are now multi occupied. Which has not been taken into Account with Refuse Collections
If correctly registered they can apply for more Refuse and Recycling Bins
Also following years of Cuts in All services. There has been cuts in Road Sweepers and No Park Keepers. Parks are visited by Mobile teams. But not enough time for Edge clearing
The Council has a report scheme. Which needs to be Well used. If it is, it will be a message to Elected Councillors
Traders have the right to use Council or Private contractors for clearing their Waste.
But due to lack of Inspectors, I doubt if it is well enforced
There are Scavenger Teams Morning & Afternoon picking up Sweepers Rubbish and reported Dumps
Not forgetting that there are Many New Councillors

Totally agree that the rubbish in Harringay lately has been completely disgusting. I'd love to see the fly tippers and the non-recyclers prosecuted but they seem to go on trashing the neighborhood with total impunity.

I think we need to consider a more radical solution - we can pick up the rubbish we see. I regularly see black bin bags dumped by the telephone exchange box at the end of the road. I pick them and put them in the nearest bin.

Who would be up for meeting up soon to discuss how we can collectively take action? Im sure between us he have heaps of great ideas. Something needs to happen people!!

Hi everyone,
I've reached out to the Chair of the Ladder Community Safety Partnership, Ian Sygrave. I told him about the overwhelming consensus on this forum that action is needed asap. Ian agrees that the rubbish situation has gotten out of control recently and will make it a big topic at their next meeting (Thursday 13 Sep, 7pm, Location: Harringay United Church Hall (Junction of Green Lanes/Allison Road, N8)
Ian writes: "I will invite Dave Shipp, Enforcement Manager for our area (who attends anyway from time to time), a rep from Veolia and the Ward Councillors. As you know, the LCSP has a 20 year history of positive action in this area and is an ideal forum to take this forward, having a very large number of members across all the Ladder roads."
I think given LCSP's network of contacts and track record it is a good platform to kickstart this action. I will attend the meeting and the more ppl are present at that meeting the more vocal we can be about our concerns and hopefully show the representatives that we are serious about this issue and no longer accept the status quo.
I will post this as a separate forum entry so it is not getting lost amongst the comments. Hope to see many of you at the meeting.
