Dog Advice (Should I Get a Dog?)
We're thinking of getting a dog but both have full time jobs and can't bring dogs to work. What do other dog owners do in this situation? Can dogs be left at home alone?

We have two dogs and getting them looked after on holiday is frequently nearly as expensive as the holiday itself. Set yourself up as a weekend dogsitter instead and you'll get canine company and allllll the money.

Also if you have a look at the 'homes wanted' ads in the Pets section All Dogs Matter are looking for walkers :)

Partner and I have been looking after a trainee guide dog.
The commitment is to house him evenings and weekends, and not to undermine the training that he gets during the day, though actually we were trained a bit and so we can help him practice what he's learnt.
The Guide Dogs centre is near Kings Cross and both of us work not far from there, so it's not hard for one of us to collect him in the late afternoon and take him home. In the morning we return him on our way to work. He's completely comfortable on all forms of transport but can't yet do moving escalators, which calls for a bit of planning.
He's lovely but obviously not a normal dog. In the evening he's tired after work so there's no walking about, other than to go to the pub or a compliant restaurant. At weekends we walk him a couple of times a day and he practices some of the things he'll do when he's matched with a long term keeper.

Hi Ned - We are just about to start our guide dog training classes and hope to get one in September. Would be great to hear about your experiences and also route to Kings X.
