I think the "RAF" is just a courtesy title; it's been a US airbase since the end of WWII but keeps its British prefix as disguise. What do they do? No idea, but my quote above is from www.forces.net, the BFBS website, so I suppose that's all we're going to be told. It makes it sound like a latter-day version of all those doughty Lysander pilots who took off from obscure airfields in 1943 to deliver SOE agents to France - but your guess is as good as mine!
What do you think these were supposed to do? Do you think they carry missiles in case he's attacked on the ground? My husband thinks they have troops in them. Any ideas?
It sounds stupid but they are warship carriers! They were designed to carry “the beast” that’s the car that’s always there when he needs it! The osprey is the only aircraft that fits inside a long haul craft, so basically they are here to protect the president, on a plus note, what we spent (35mil) is a drop in the ocean compared to 3 ospreys circling for 3 hours every day.
Damm noisy, shame I didn't have a ground to air missile launch in my back yard ,but which aircraft to chose?
