It's all go on the Harringay Levels tonight. Multiple Police cars parked near Woodlands Park Childrens' centre and a low flying air rescue helicopter. Anyone know what's going on?

A red helicopter landed in Chestnuts Park at about 5.30pm, took off again 5 or 10 minutes later. That was flying around quite low for a few circuits before hand.
At 5pm this evening in Chestnuts Park a fight took place that involved a non fatal stabbing. This occurred between the tennis court and the willow sculpture tunnel. My wife provided a witness statement to police from Wood Green. So if anyone else was in the park at the time (and there were plenty close by) they should report what they saw. The victim didn't require the helicopter in the end.
I don't know any details of the Woodlands incident however those involved in the Chestnuts incident made off in the direction of Black Boy Lane.
Yes I agree. Chestnuts is our "back garden" and our 2 year old loves it! It is used by many groups for enjoyment and recreation. The Friends group do a super job in making more of the park.
My neighbours and I have raised our concerns with the Safer Neighbourhoods team regarding crimes in the park even before yesterday. A few interventions could make things better particularly in the alley off Cornwall Rd that runs next to our building. Need CCTV, better barriers to stop the mopeds and the street lighting needs to be switched on. I don't see why the park cannot be closed after dusk.
Good grief, you think closed parks keep bad people out? They just keep good people out.
I love Chestnuts and volunteer there with Goodgym, but I don't always feel comfortable running around it in the morning. Probably because of an incident with a man on a bike making comments. But there are often shifty looking characters around. I mostly run around Downhills instead. Though a friend told me the travellers have moved back in this week.
And the problem yet again, is a man, not the park.
Why don't we just ban men from parks unless they are accompanied by a woman or a child?
I believe some people are over-sensitive or even paranoid. After I retired and was free during the day I used to like going to Finsbury Park and sit on my own in the sun near the café with a book and a coffee. The stares and glares from women. and mothers particularly, made me feel very unwelcome. I stopped going.
I'm sorry to hear that, John - everyone should be allowed to enjoy a sit in a park, whatever their age or gender. I do hope you consider returning, and that the staring and glaring is no longer a problem - I certainly see plenty of single people sitting on benches on the park just enjoying the peace.
I would have no objection to you airing minding your own business in a park.
But if you were on a bike and therefore faster than me and bigger than me, and it was early in the morning, and if you made a sexual comment to me when all I am doing is trying to get my morning workout done....?
Sorry Sarah, my comment wasn't aimed at you in particular. It ended up in the wrong place in the thread.
There was a young lad who would sit on a bench in Finsbury Park most days I was running last year. Looked forward to saying good morning to him as I did my circuits
saw him once this spring not again, shame everyone should be able to enjoy our beautiful parks
