What a joy and a strange disappointment it was to see the Crouch End Players presenting Midsummer Night's Dream.
A joy all round but a mild disappointment. When I was a young reporter on the (real) Hornsey Jorunal back in the early 60s there was, I am fairly sure, a Crouch End Players in existence - I certainly reviewed performances by a Crouch End theatre group.
Anyway of course this group was formed in 2008 - but in this day and age my first delight was that the old group might have survived this long.
But then to find that such a group could be formed in this age was joy. Hooray and all power to their success.

Thank you Richard, it would be great to hear more about what you thought of our production. I’ve been with the Players since the start, a lot of passion, energy and commitment goes into each production. This one was 4 months in the making and over in 4 nights. We are committed to the community and have several free shows in the Crouch End Festival, all written by our own members. Be lovely if you could pop along.
Unlikely I fear as I live in the depths Essex (well Halstead!). But HoL keeps me in touch with my London roots hence my joy at the contnued existence of a strong drama culture in Crouch End.
