I live on the ground floor of a conversion with 3 flats.
There is a hedge at the front that has been neglected for a very long time, is well overgrown etc etc.
Typically front part (and front garden) is "shared" meaning nobody apart from me looks after it.
The hedge has been planted years ago by a tenant upstairs but he does not maintain it, asking the landlord (L&Q) if they could trim it - sure but they will charge all 3 flats.
I suspect the quality would be bad and price way over the top if L&Q did it so I am looking for a solution as the hedge looks really messy.
Does anyone have any idea how much would it cost to cut the hedge to acceptable height and width? Including taking away any cuttings/mess when done? It is a hedge between us and next door rather than at the front. It is not very long.
Any idea about prices for this kind of thing?
Many thanks

Hi Anka, I have some shears and am happy to lend them to you. just cut the bush by a third and either stick the cuttings in the bin or take them via a cab to the dump. the latter should cost no more than £10. Don't ' cut the bush by more than a third as it can cause subsidence. I reccomend having some fun and try to cut some crazy shapes, you can literary cut it back to twigs but within a week or two all the leaves will grow back. privet is a such a malleable plant .
I owe you one for the sunflowers you gave me last year so I'm happy to help out.
they were magnificent! albeit a little skinny... anyway I'm happy to help. I've never cut a privet but it really ain' the rocket science...
