Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We have discovered a bees nest on the roof outside our bedroom.

Does anyone know who would deal with this ?

If they are honey bees, contact the local beekeepers association. If they are bumblebees they are protected so leave them alone.

It's probably too late in the year to be a honey bee swarm but if that's what it is there'll be lots of bee-keepers* only too happy to take them off your hands- have a look here.

As Sarah says, best leave them alone if they're bumble bees- they're severely under threat in UK and highly unlikely to cause you any harm.

If they're wasps, (personally) I'd also leave them alone as they do more good than harm... but the Council will remove the nest for £77 or thereabouts.

*ps my neighbour is a beekeeper - he's away at a funeral today but when he's back I'll ask his advice.

That would be great - thanks.

I think they are bees but they are coming in from the roof into the tenants room so not very good.

You should just get a new tenant who's into Melissophilia. I bet you could charge them a lot more too.

How do you even know these things

You DO know where Manuka honey comes from ? :-)
