Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

There are so many mushrooms and toadstools around after the rains, but they very quickly get crushed or stamped on. Fungi are so beautiful and mysterious. Who goes around kicking them, and why? Is it superstition?

Kit, I was thinking this very thing the other morning while walking down the Parkland Walk... Various fungi had just appeared and it seemed they were already being attacked... like you I thought who & why, whereupon a large brown dog bounded through and all became clear.

Thanks for responses. Nice photo, EMC! Not sure it's always large dogs/anxious toddler parents though. Spotted this beauty on the way to work, kicked over but not crushed. Last week on the verges of a busy road, there were still a few well-camouflaged fungi intact, but the tall/highly visible ones quickly get mashed...
