Nice one Hugh, my dad raced here in 1972/4ish... that brought back a few memories!

Ironic that the chaos lives on with the Sainsbury's car park ;-)

Harringay Stadium, the arena where old bangers battle it out in an invitation event. From a rolling start the rattlers roared into their first crack-bang circuit. It was every man for himself with no holds barred.....So with complete abandon plus quite considerable skill, the drivers bumped and bored their way round the stock-car circuit. If there were any rules, nobody told us about them. Survival of the fittest seemed the object....what an opportunity the drivers had to to let off steam. There can't be many of us who at some point haven't felt like ploughing through a traffic snarl-up. The trouble is it doesn't get you very far.

Yes and thrice yes again Steve. It was staring me in the face and I missed it! What a gift as the basis of a satirical campaign. The text I've reproduced above is almost the entire voice-over of the clip.

I hadn't realised your dad had raced there. (Apologies if you've mentioned it before and I've forgotten). You must have a treasure trove of photos and memorabilia.

I don't think I mentioned it before Hugh... I am trying to get hold of some of these pictures from various older members of the family. Will of course share them if any good.

Sadly no, they seem to have gone on the missing list since my nan upped sticks and moved, I have my Aunt on the case so I am still hopeful.
