Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

For me, this photo was a great find. It shows the now long demolished houses to the west of the Green Gate Beer House, opposite the end of the west part of Duckett's Common. The three shop-houses are still standing. The middle one is currently host to Autograf.

Alongside the image I added earlier in the year of the adjacent Carlingford College, it helps to complete the picture of how West Green Road looked up to the middle of the last century.

The shops were from left to right,

488 John Standen, Laundry
486 Henry Bullock, tobacconist
486 National Telephone Co.Ltd. (public call office)

484 Farmers' & Cleveland Dairies Co. Limited

To the right of the shops was Faulkner Nathaniel, coal dealer. To the right was the Green Gate beer house.
