Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Turnpike Lane circa 1905 - Unwin Arms and Haringey Grove
A nice companion piece to a couple of pictures I posted back in 2014 of this stretch of Turnpike Lane. This picture gives a better idea of what Haringey Grove was like.
All these buildings and roads were sacrificed the second stage of the Haringey Grove Redevelopment Project and it closed in 1971.

I think there were actually two tower blocks - Dylan Thomas and Hallam House.

I came across this mirror recently. It was sold at Christies in 2005 for £4,800. The catalogue description is provided below the picture.
Arched bevelled plate decorated in vere eglisomé, inscribed UNWIN ARMS NOTED WINE AND SPIRIT ESTABLISHMENT, within stylised foliate spandrels, signed by the maker TRENNER & SON 78 GRAY'S INN RD. W.C. within a later associated ebonised and reeded wood frame - 60¾ x 30¼in. (154.5 x 77cm.) overall
