The small half building between the house and the back of the bus was Dr Freemans surgery. Eight people and it was full. You just walked in ask who was last in and took your turn.
There was a wood yard not far from it. My dad was always going there. I can remember the smell of the wood now.
The "wood yard" was probably (or originally) Denchfield's Salisbury Timber Yard - see Fig.14 and the paragraphs above and below it here.
I remember Desmond’s the sweet shop, just loved those lemon sherbets.
