That would be £20 in today's money - but you would pay about £60 plus in fact.
What year would that have been ?
Previous poster suggests 1963.
Just spotted your reply Lydia : But their first performance was Christmas Eve !? I'm wondering if it was 1964 ? I saw their Christmas performance in 64 at The Hammersmith Odeon.
Having seen them you are in a most enviable position Mr Shulver!
They had to be there in 1963 as I did a story in the HJ about kids playing truant to queue for tickets. I did a snatch interview wi8th George Harrison; barely worth it really. I said 'What do you think about kids truanting to0 buy tickets?" He said "Its up to them". Job done!
I was gone from the area by Christmas 64.
Almost 3 years late with my response Lydia Walter...........but I've only just spotted your comment. It made me chuckle. But I also saw that 1963 Christmas Eve performance at The Astoria so my question to you is : "Does that put me in an EVEN MORE enviable position now ??" And I was also 'one of those kids truanting to buy a ticket' in Richard Woods question to George Harrison. What daze eh.........
Better late than never John.
Nothing like seeing the original line up but I’m now feeling some Karma. I have tickets to see Paul McCartney at the O2 in December. Ticket price probably in the region of a few year’s rent payments 1963/64 prices but heigh ho, I’m seeing one of my musical heroes - at last!
PS. Don’t leave it another three years to reply 🤣
