My first address as a baby was one of those prefabs, on the south side of White Hart Lane in the map above. My mum loved the prefab and always said what a great design it was. The Wonderloaf bakery on the map is noted as the Wonder Bakery, perhaps that was it's original name. In the photograph, Alexandra Palace and St.Michaels church spire can be seen in the distance.

There's a lovingly restored prefab (incongruously) in the Chiltern open air museum  life https://www.coam.org.uk/

Clever design with lots of storage space so you didn't need furniture for cupboards and wardrobes.

My Nan and Grandad were allocated a pre-fab in Ashford Road, Tottenham in about 1947 and lived there quite comfortably for many years until they moved to High Cross Road, Tottenham Hale.  Their pre-fab was always nice and warm, had 2 bedrooms, large living room, good size kitchen and even a gas refrigerator which was quite uncommon for then.  The front and back gardens were also a good size and I remember Grandad kept chickens so always returned home with fresh eggs. Such good memories!

There were also prefabs on White Hart Lane, next to the Rowland Hill Nursery - up to the mid 70's.
