Rosens looks like it sold women’s clothing - anyone know anything about the shop?

I couldn't find much. Earliest I can place the shop there is 1948, when it occupied numbers 3, 4, & 5 Salisbury Promenade. The occupier is listed as Louis Rosen, Draper. He wasn't there in 1943. I found a snippet that I think was a report of the dissolution or bankruptcy of 'Rosens of Harringay' in 1972.

The tiny building tagged on to the house on the left was a doctor’s surgery (Dr. Freeman) where I went in the 1940s/50s.  It was still a surgery the last time I looked.  The windows by the top of the bus were part of a billiard hall and to the right are more windows which were part of the Salon Bal ballroom, a gym the last time I looked.  I met my second husband as a teenager in that ballroom and we were married 32 years later!

Hello Flower.  Dr Freeman was our doctor too.  I can still see him in my mind's eye - tall and thin with glasses and a kindly manner.  We went to dancing classes at the Salon Bal and  I remember Rosen's well.

The pavement had a long stretch of marble-like surface that I used as a roller-skating rink, tearing up and down at a fast speed. Wouldn't be allowed these days.

Flower & Geraldine, that small building is still a doctor's surgery.

Here's a piece I wrote a few years back on the Salon Bal, but focussing on a time before you knew it.

By the way, this photo shows 2 - 5 Salisbury Promenade in 1934.

I was a patient of Dr Freeman from 1951 untill 1971. I think Dr Freeman died and his son took over the practice.(same name) not sure which one i saw.

Both my Mum and Sister worked at Rosens early 60's.    I remember the lady owner ( who I think was Mrs Rosen ) taking ownership of a BRAND NEW white Cortina, Mk 1 I presume.  Quite mind blowing to me at the time !

We also skated on that wonderful white marble frontage Geraldine.  Much to others disapproval.

The wonderful old Woolworths store next to The "Collie" at St Ann's end.  We lived behind in Harringay Road.

This brings back so many memories of living opposite in a flat above the shops in the 1950's.  I also had Dr Freeman who gave my sister, cousin and myself our polio injections when went in, all together for support.  Remember the waiting room where everyone would sit in chairs around the edge of the room and gradually move around each time some one went into see the doctor.  No one had their name called in those days.
