Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

An unusual view of the Lanes back in the day. It was taken looking north east from a point near the junction of Allison Road with Green Lanes. When it was taken, on the plots of land just to the north of the junction of Green Lanes and Coilna Road, there stood a pair of large semi-detatched houses. This plot is now occupied by the TfL Underground air shaft/power building.
On the extreme left of the building, you can just make out the buildings that once stood on the plot next to the Church and now occupied by the Turkish Bank building. You can just see the pointed tops to the facades. Before looking at this photo, I hadn't even thought about fact that the bank building is new. It looks like there used to be a pair of Victorian shop houses there

Aha! So it was an estate agency of some sort, but not one belonging to your parents. Got it. I think at some point it was/became a doctor’s surgery.

Yes that was our Doctors surgery in the 1950's, Dr Freeman.
We paid our rent to an agent near Harringay Station. I think the premises was in the block along from Barclays Bank.

Frith & Co? 70 Grand Parade. I recently stumbled across a surviving sign of theirs in the alley near Yavulazlar.
