The David Greig grocery business was started in 1870 at 32 High Street, Hornsey by David Greig's mother. By the time the business was sold in the 1960s, there were 220 branches.
The branch at 99 West Green Road seems to have been quite short-lived. The latest it appears in Kely's Street Directory is 1909/10. It opened at some point in the preceding decade. There was also a branch just down the road at no 52 which survived into the middle of the century
A postscript to the otherwise personal message on the rear of the card suggests that it might have sent by someone who worked at the shop, possibly the manager. He says, "How do you like the picture. Scalesman missing & boy"
