A view across the glebe land that used to stand to the west of St Mary's church, bordering the High Street. On the far right of the picture is either St Mary's School or the old almshouses. Not long after this photo was taken, the land both the the east and west of the school was built up with shop houses, fronting the High Street.
When the modern school was first built in the mid-seventies as St David's & St Katherine's, the buildings at 64-76 High Street were demolished to make way for the school's enlargement.
